Be the ball
Sitegeist knows what a relief it is to work with nice, smart, creative and easy-going people. You can be sure that Sitegeist people are cream-of-the-crop types who understand how to tackle online challenges without acting like online know-it-alls. We'll even laugh at your jokes, provided they're funny.
Introducing Sitegeist's Director: John Ryan
John Ryan is the founder and director of Sitegeist and the first point of contact when you want to talk websites.
Working in online and traditional publishing since 1986, John is an industry leader in strategic content services in Australia. Since 2000 John has spoken on website content management and development at local and international conferences and had presented at tertiary institutions and industry groups.
John has an impressive collection of business cards, and continues to foster relationships with some of Australia's most successful online professionals, including web producers, interactive designers, developers and search engine optimisation gurus. Through Sitegeist, John is happy to share his precious talent pool with clients. Whether it's content and customer experience, or full site development, Sitegeist has the right people to ensure your project is a success.
Professional experience and accolades
Before starting Sitegeist in 2007, John worked for Lonely Planet Publications in a variety of roles including Business to Business Products Manager and Managing Editor of the multi-award winning website lonelyplanet.com.
As Lonely Planet's online Managing Editor, John was awarded the Lowell Thomas Award gold medal for the best travel website by the Society of American Travel Writers (2006-7). During John's tenure, lonelyplanet.com won six Webby Awards. The site took out the People's Voice Award for most popular travel website four years in a row.
John was the founding film and humour editor for The Big Issue Australia magazine, and before that worked as a feature columnist for a variety of Melbourne newspapers.
Sitegeist's director has extensive experience in traditional book publishing, having worked for prestigious academic and scholarly publisher Melbourne University Press for over a decade in editorial, production, accounts and even the warehouse, which he managed for a few cold years back in the day.
John developed the concept for a 'travel/humour' book in 2006 and was coordinating author. In 2008, Slate listed Micronations as one of the 10 oddest travel books ever published. John thinks you should buy it here.

Lorem Who?
Lorem ipsem is the sworn enemy of good website development, yet it's ubiquitous. Dummy text. Placeholder content. Lorem ipsum has been used since the 16th century. If your business is presenting fonts and typography, you are forgiven.

"As our Customer Experience Consultant, John has examined a broad range of strategic and tactical issues related to our online customer experience. We've come away with much deeper, clearer understandings of what drives our business - and where we can take it. John is like a super-laid-back guru - it's easy not to notice how much you learn from him. The intelligence, experience and creativity he's brought have been awesome. John Ryan has my highest recommendation."
